Preventative

A solid foundation for a healthy smile.

What’s better than treating something that has gone wrong? How about preventing it from happening in the first place? Most dental treatment is the result of simple processes that are easy to prevent. Routine examination and professional cleaning of your teeth are a major part of an oral health prevention strategy.

Periodontal (Gum) disease: periodontal disease is the destruction of the supporting structures of the teeth, primarily the surrounding bone and gums. Signs of gum disease include:

  • Bleeding on brushing and/or flossing

  • Bad breath (halitosis)

  • Red, puffy, inflamed gums

What to expect

Professional cleanings can either be:

  • Routine scale and polish (one visit and treatment above the gums)

  • Periodontal (Gum) treatment or deep cleaning/root debridement (multiple visits and treatment below the gums). This type of cleaning is designed to address the harmful effects of periodontal disease
