Crown and bridge

Sometimes a filling is not enough.

Teeth that need extra protection or are severely compromised may require something more robust, such as a crown.

What to expect

There are many variations of materials and designs for crown and bridgework, but in essence, a crown is a lab-made restoration that covers a tooth that needs extra protection after a root canal treatment or is past the point of successfully placing a direct filling. Bridgework can be thought of as connected crowns that form a bridge and span a gap to replace missing teeth. There are also variations such as inlays and onlays that only cover part of the tooth. Come see us and we can discuss more.

The process of creating a crown is done over 2 visits. On the first visit, we will prepare the tooth in question, copy this for the dental lab, and make and place a temporary crown. The second visit will involve the removal of the temporary crown and placement of your finished crown.
