Dentures

Dentures are a removable option for replacing teeth.

There are various options available based on what they are made from and if they are full or partial replacement in nature.

What to expect

Fabricating dentures typically requires a few visits and sending the case back to the dental lab each time, with a turnaround of 1-2 weeks between each visit. There is also a period of getting used to your new dentures after delivery and may require post-delivery adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit.

Caring for your dentures

Dentures require proper care to keep them in good condition and maintain your oral health. Here are a few points to keep in mind when caring for you dentures:

  • Handle your dentures carefully

  • Rinse them after eating

  • Clean your mouth after removing dentures, using a soft toothbrush to clean not only any remaining teeth, but your tongue, gums, and roof of mouth, in particular anywhere the denture sits

  • Brush your dentures with a soft bristle brush daily

  • Soak dentures in a mild soaking solution overnight (make sure to follow manufacturer's instructions, for example, it is generally advised not to soak metal dentures overnight)

  • Rinse dentures before putting them back in
