Emergency consultation

Dental emergencies don’t run on a schedule.

Our aim is for you to be seen as soon as possible so you can return to feeling like your normal self.

What to expect

If you have a dental emergency, please contact us and we will do our very best to fit you in on that day. You will be assessed and we will form a clear plan of what needs to be done next.

What is a dental emergency?

Pain and swelling

Pain and swelling are two of the most common symptoms that require urgent care. Dental abscesses can be very serious if they spread and should be treated immediately.

Dental trauma

Dental trauma includes injuries to teeth resulting in pain, broken teeth, change in position, and sometimes even a lost tooth.

If you lose an adult tooth, hold it by the crown and gently clean the root avoiding water and instead use milk, saline, or your own saliva. If possible, replace the tooth into the socket in the correct orientation immediately. If you can’t replace the tooth yourself, store the tooth in a container of milk, saline, or saliva (you can hold the tooth in your cheek but be careful not to swallow!). Seek a dental professional as soon as possible, preferably within 2 hours of the injury.

If your child loses a baby tooth do not try to replace it. Seek a dental professional’s advice as soon as possible.

Broken tooth without pain

If you have broken a tooth but there’s no pain don’t worry too much, a broken back tooth or cavity that is not painful is not a dental emergency. For these cases, please contact us and we will book you into our next available appointment.
