Root canal treatment
For some reason, root canals have gotten a bad reputation in dentistry.
But root canal treatments allow us to save teeth that have been severely decayed and infected.
Signs you may need a root canal:
Spontaneous pain
Pain that keeps you awake at night
Pain that increases with pressure or eating
Darkening or discolouring of a tooth
Tender gums around a tooth
Extreme sensitivity to temperature
What to expect
A root canal can often be performed in one visit, but sometimes they require more than one appointment to complete. The tooth in question will be thoroughly numbed for the entire procedure. It is important to note that after a tooth has had a root canal treatment, it is usually recommended to have a crown placed to protect against fracture.
After your root canal, you may experience pain that is similar to what you had before you before the procedure. This is normal and should subside after 2-3 days.
